For music lovers and history geeks in the Houston area
One of my former staff members is working with Ars Lyrica now. Check it out if it sounds like something you'd enjoy.
A Musical Pleasure Garden
Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 4 pm Bayou Bend, 1 Westcott Street at Memorial
A historic recreation of the 18th century musical pleasure garden. With songs and sonatas of Handel, Purcell, Arne, William Shield and their contemporaries, the afternoon will showcase Ars Lyrica's musicians and singers from the University of Houston's Moores School of Music. Led by artistic director Matthew Dirst. The artists will perform on period instruments and in period dress.
I have a raging crush on Emily Haines from Metric.

Apparently, the cleaning crew is trying to kill us. One bathroom deodorizing squirt at a time.

File Under: Technologically Spoiled Rotten
I'm a poor boy born in a rut Some say my manners ain't the best Some of my friends made a whole lot of trouble And some towns are better than the rest But tell your momma and your papa Sometimes good guys don't wear white
The one thing I like about Sirius over XM is that the Sirius punk channel plays a lot more Minor Threat.

A List
Six reasons why I'm not calling you for an interview:
1. You attached your resume and titled it "resume". Having to rename it by your NAME takes 30 seconds that I'll never get back. 2. You attached your resume and titled it "Untitled Word Doc 1" 3. Ever heard of a cover letter? Try it sometime! 4. Spell check! 5. Your resume indicates that you worked at your last job from 2006 to 2207. 6. You responded to a job listing that said "Please attach resume as a DOC or PDF file" and indicated that your resume was available upon request.

The Good, the Bad and the Nerdy
The bad news first: Today I got my first speeding ticket ever. Sucks. SUCKS, I say.
The good news: I started writing again. I love it and it feels great to know that I still have it in me. It's also been the perfect distraction from some online bullshit that I'm trying to put behind me. The best part is, my work doesn't totally suck.
The nerdy part: I'm writing about vikings in 9th century France. The siege of Paris, people. That's where it's at. I can't imagine a better way to spend my time than thinking about hot, dirty, blood thirsty vikings. *swoon*
On an unrelated note, here's a message from The Lillingtons: "Well you’re just another shithead , and I’m not a part of your plan I’m gonna through you in the road, and run you over with my van"

Random shout for help!
I'm looking for an LGBT youth support group in the Spring area. Our kid has a friend who is having a tough time at home. If you know anyone that has connections in youth outreach who might be able to help out, please let me know.
